Long Carbon Steel

The long carbon steel business area of ArcelorMittal Brasill is represented by Aços Longos, Acindar (Argentina), ArcelorMittal Costa Rica and by the Drawing Plants.

In this sector wire rod is produced and commercialized for several industrial applications, a complete line of products for civil construction including rebars, mesh and truss and shapes and wires to be used in industry and agribusiness.

ArcelorMittal Aços Longos, in activity since 1921, keeps a set of steelmaking and drawing plants in Brazil (in states of Minas Gerais, São Paulo, Espírito Santo and Bahia). It is one of the three main worldwide producers of wire rod for steel-cord (for radial tires), produced in Monlevade Unit (MG), besides having the mini-mills specialized in rebars, shapes and rolled products for industry and construction. The company relies on an extensive distribution chain of products all over the country, including the Belgo Pronto system which delivers cut and bent material to be used in civil construction. It has an installed capacity of 5,6 million tons/year of rolled steel and 1,55 million tons/year of drawn products.

Acindar, the main long carbon steel company in Argentina, has a wide range of products such as wire rod, bars and shapes besides drawn products for civil construction and agribusiness which are aimed at the domestic and external markets.

In the Drawing Sector, ArcelorMittal Brasil keeps a strategic partnership with the Bekaert group from Belgium in order to produce wires for industrial applications, general use, power transmission, telecommunications, welding, agribusiness and prestressed concrete.

ArcelorMittal Aços Longos also performs in the sectors of reforesting and charcoal production, electrical energy and information systems.
