Safety and Health

Priorities for ArcelorMittal, Health and Safety are highlighted points in ArcelorMittal Brasil. All units work with management systems and are certified based on the criteria of the Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series (OHSAS), which deals with occupational health and safety.

All the companies have Internal Commissions for Accident Prevention (CIPAs) and perform safety journeys, besides promoting trainings for their employees in order to avoid accidents. A highlight in this area is the International Day of Health and Safety, annually held in all the units of the Group worldwide. The objective is to involve and engage employees from all levels with the theme.

The Safety Committee of ArcelorMittal Brasil is in charge of leading the subjects related to the theme in the operational units, contributing to the Zero Accident goal.

In the Health area, prevention is priority. Besides following the legislation requirements, the Company invests in programs to promote health which involve goals to reduce risk factors, such as smoking, cholesterol and obesity; it has medical centers to provide services for employees and drug addicts and keeps covenants with large companies from this area.
